Reviving the Ritz Carlton in Rancho Mirage
I, for one, have really missed the Ritz Carlton—the Palm Springs Valley’s only five-star resort, located in Rancho Mirage—since it closed a few years ago for renovations. But the good news is that after much financial wrangling during our country’s recent economic downturn, it looks like the property is set for a grand re-opening in October 2013. In case you don’t remember, the resort was closed to do a renovation in the $500 million range. With the collapse of some financial institutions that were helping to finance the work, everything came to a standstill. But all that’s behind us as new investors have stepped in to recreate one of the most beautiful hotels in Southern California.
Seated atop a 650-foot bluff in the heart of the Palm Springs Valley, and overlooking beautiful Rancho Mirage, the Ritz will offer over 250 luxury rooms and about 30 even more opulent suites. It goes without saying that a top-notch restaurant will cater to guests, visitors, and locals while offering beautiful views of the surrounding Santa Rosa, San Jacinto, and the Little San Bernardino Mountains. You can also expect a 24,000-square-foot spa that will pamper the pants off those fortunate enough to pay it a visit.
With miles of hiking trails within steps of the resort, scores of celebrated golf courses, plenty of tennis, and the world-famous desert sun, the new and improved Ritz Carlton of Rancho Mirage will be a draw for the most discerning travelers on earth. Stay tuned for updates.
