Find a fiesta in the desert

Cinco de Mayo honors Mexico’s victory over the French empire and it’s a great reason to raise a margarita glass and chow down on some great Mexican food in Rancho Mirage. Here are three spots where you can stop to celebrate.

Las Casuelas Nuevas, 70050 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage: The Delgado family’s restaurant opens the doors early for the holiday for a special Sunday champagne brunch. Enjoy omelets, waffles, prime rib, salmon and shrimp, chile rellenos, fajitas, taco, tostadas, menudo and more. Adult $45, children $19.95. Sunday, 10 a.m. – 3 p.m.

Maracas Cantina, 72775 Dinah Shore Dr., Rancho Mirage: Featuring what is arguably one of the best patio settings in the valley, this is a great place to gather with family and friends. With more than 100 different Tequilas, it may be a tough decision about which glass to raise in celebration. Enjoy an extensive menu of favorites such as elote, homemade tortilla soup, tamales, chile rellenos, flautas, sopes, chimichangas and more, including vegetarian options. Plus, there is a variety of tempting desserts like tres leches cake, flan, and fried ice cream.

Dringk Eatery + Bar, 71800 Highway 111, Suite 101, Rancho Mirage: The fiesta begins starting at 11 a.m. with a number of great specials, including a $15 taco and Mexican food buffet, $6 Patrón tequila shots, $5 margaritas, $10 Cadillac margaritas and $21 buckets of Corona beer. Plus, hear live music from 2 – 6 p.m. performed by 212 Band, one of the Valley’s hottest classic rock cover bands.
