Erin Go Bragh in Rancho Mirage

Whether you’re Irish or not doesn’t matter when St. Patrick’s Day rolls around. History will argue that Patrick wasn’t even Irish (he was born to Roman parents) and that he didn’t really drive snakes out of Ireland because they didn’t have them in the first place.

Nonetheless, March 17 has always been a great date in America to don your favorite green clothing and celebrate one of Ireland’s patron saints. And you don’t need luck to find local spots where you can raise a glass and say, “Sláinte” this holiday. Here are 6 great places to go:

Yard House: The celebrations start here on March 4 and go through March 17. Check out a menu full of traditional Irish offerings with modern twists. Tasty items include corn beef egg rolls, whiskey black pepper wings, grilled Guinness cheddar and braised beef melt, Shepherd’s pie and mash, and whiskey glazed salmon. In addition to green beer, you can order up a Dublin mule or Jameson margarita.

O’Caine’s Irish Pub: The Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce hosts the long awaited Grand Opening on March 15. Wear your best green garments and start the celebration at 5 p.m. with the official ribbon cutting ceremony. Then doors open to the pub for appetizers and a cash bar. Enjoy fantastic tastings, a welcoming staff, great beers and much more.

Dringk: Come hear Lisa & The Gents as they play live on March 17 from 2 – 6 p.m. Then, DJ Mirage steps in and spins tunes from 8 p.m. until closing. Get your fill of corn beef and cabbage served all day and take advantage of great $5 drink specials, including green draft beer, bottles of Guinness and Jameson Irish Whiskey. Tasty $8 Irish Car Bomb shots (a shot of Irish cream and whiskey dropped into a glass of stout) are also on the holiday Dringk menu.

Fleming’s Steakhouse: This is the place where they know beef. Come by after 5 p.m. March 15 to 17 to enjoy the corned beef and cabbage holiday special in the bar and cocktail patio. Of course, you’ll need something to wash it down and the green beer will be flowing.

Burgers & Beer: Happy Hour goes all day long on March 17. Indulge in a green beer or two and a order from a wide selection of food items, including one of the best burgers in town. Want to keep with the green theme? Order up the Guacamole Burger.

Babe’s Bar-B-Que Grill & Brewhouse: While there’s no specific St. Pat’s menu, if you’ve ever been to Ireland, you know the fish and chips are a staple. Find them on Babe’s lunch and dinner menu along with a number of great beverages you can lift in celebration.
