A Shopper’s Delight at The River’s Raymond | Lawrence

For those of you who haven’t yet met my dear Palm Springs Valley pals Raymond McCallister and Larry Abel, you are in for a real treat. The dynamic duo who certainly seem to have their fingers in a lot of pies (including food and catering, special event planning, industrial and consumer design, and various retail operations) will be moving their eponymous store “Raymond | Lawrence” from its uptown Palm Springs location to a gorgeous new space at Rancho Mirage’s The River (right next to Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse). To celebrate their grand opening, the boys are doing what they’ve become well-known for—throwing a big, bad, bodacious party!

On Thursday, November 5, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.—with an official Rancho Mirage Chamber of Commerce ribbon-cutting at 6:15 p.m.—the public is invited to be the first to see what is sure to be a highly desired desert destination that is being described as “a curated collection of offerings, brands, services, and selections for lovers of style and design.” The event will benefit Greater Palm Springs Pride and will serve as a kickoff to a weekend jam-packed with activities that culminate with the LGBT Pride Parade on Sunday, November 1. www.pspride.org

Raymond and Larry’s new venture, which consists of a huge collection of “pop-up” stores within one larger retail space, will add 10 new vendors to what has already been hailed as one of the most innovative and fun-to-shop collections of small businesses in the entire desert. Looking for home décor treasures, furniture, furnishings, textiles, or bedding? You’ll find it. How about men’s clothing? Women’s? Check and check. Gifts? Beauty products? All there. New brands will include men’s beach and swim shorts by London-based Orlebar Brown; Avasa’s home furnishings touting natural, sustainable, and organic fibers; and Classic Shaving, which will offer an onsite barber/groomer! And back by popular demand, you’ll find Party Lab 2.0, R|L’s one-stop-shop for party essentials, unique decorations, and original costumes.

The opening night soiree will feature adult beverages, tasty tidbits, hot waiters—and I mean HOT!—and some very cool musical performances. (Keep your eyes peeled for electric violinist KAT V.)

Hope to see you at the opening, but otherwise, stop in from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily. (Oh, and if you happen to be at Rancho Mirage’s Ritz Carlton, stop in to their Raymond | Lawrence satellite store.) www.raymond-lawrence.com
