Any of us who have the distinguished privilege of living, working, or vacationing in Rancho Mirage—the desert city at the heart of the Palm Springs Valley—knows how fortunate we are, how special a place this truly is. But isn’t it always nice to know that others from faraway lands share this esteemed opinion?
One of the latest kudos to come our way is Spas of America—the number one spa and wellness travel website—recognizing our very own Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa’s very own Sunstone Spa top top among the 500 international properties it surveyed in 2015.
In announcing the results, SOA president Craig Oliver said, “In 2015, we saw exceptional growth in the North American spa and wellness industry, with record visits and increased revenue.” According to SOA, an International Spa Association U.S. Spa Industry Study, commissioned by the ISPA Foundation and undertaken by PwC International Survey Unit, reported consumers made 176 million visits to spas in the United States, generating an estimated $15.5 billion in revenue. “Trends we’ve noticed in the past year include consumers having a renewed focus on exercise, fitness, and health,” continued Oliver, “and being drawn to spa and wellness experiences offered in authentic, natural outdoor locations. We’re all living fast and busy lives that are not necessarily fulfilling. Spa and wellness travel offers people a chance to take a step back, enjoy a slower pace, and focus on what is truly important.”
Of the more than 500 international spas in the running, Sunstone placed not only in the Top 100 but relatively high on the list at number 18. It also ranked second overall among California spas, and number one in all casino spas in the state. It was the only spa in Rancho Mirage to take a coveted spot. The list of Top 100 Spas of 2015 includes 65 spas from the United States, 29 spas from Canada, four from Mexico and two from Brazil.
As many of you dear readers know, I’ve spent many a blissful hour at Sunstone, sampling freely from its incredible menu of traditional and special seasonal massage and skin treatments, not to mention its full service salon, fitness center, eucalyptus steam, dry sauna, whirlpool, private outdoor swimming pool, and luxury spa cabanas.
