Watching pro Inbee Park play golf at this year’s Kraft Nabisco Championship at the Mission Hills Country Club was a bit like seeing a speeding freight train careen down the course in Rancho Mirage. This was a woman with a mission, and nothing was going to stop her from winning her fifth LPGA title—and second major championship. I was thrilled to be there to not only watch her play (and sink that perfect putt on the 18th) but to witness her do the famous jump into Poppie’s Pond surrounded by her entire entourage. In a very sweet gesture, drenched to the gills, Ms. Park filled an empty water bottle to take a pint of pond water back to her proud papa, who was home in Korea and unable to see his daughter win the big prize.
Speaking of pride, as a Rancho Mirager, I couldn’t be more proud of my home town for its ability to put on yet another spectacular show. The KNC—in its 42nd year—went off without a hitch. The weather cooperated. The traffic- and people-moving coordination was flawless. The food, shopping, and new KNC Fan Experience all contributed to an overall sensation/satisfaction that was felt by every single solitary guest. Add to that all my lovely lady friends who were in town to celebrate the Dinah Shore Weekend, and this was one heck of a party. Every year seems to get better and better, and I wouldn’t miss this event for the world. See you next year! www.kncgolf.com www.thedinah.com
