2015 was very good to Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse (www.babesbbqandbrewhouse.com) at The River on Rancho Mirage’s Highway 111. Its beers won a silver medal at the Los Angeles International Commercial Beer Competition, gold at the U.S. Open Beer Championship, and “Brewery of the Year” at the California State Fair.
Here’s hoping 2016 is just as kind to our home town brewmasters. In addition to entering the above triumvirate of contests, Babe’s is vying for honors at the upcoming World Beer Cup in Philadelphia, and the Australian International Beer Awards (the largest competition of its kind in the world). Both of these challenges will be decided in May.
Then it’s off to the San Diego International Beer Competition in June, where Babe’s will try to best local rival La Quinta Brewing Company. In July there’s the U.S. Open Beer Championship in Ohio. And October sees the Great American Beer Festival unfold in Denver.
Of course, we wish the great guys at Babe’s the best of luck. But no matter how they and their brews place, it’s all win-win for us. Because we’re the lucky sons of guns who get to walk into Babe’s any day of the year and enjoy the fruits of their labors—by the bottle, or on tap. Cheers!
