BABE’S LAUNCHES NEW BRANDING FOR BREWERY AND RESTAURANT

Rancho Mirage’s oldest craft beer-maker is named

“Official Beer Purveyor of the 2019 Palm Springs International Film Festival”

November 27, 2018, RANCHO MIRAGE— Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewery, the landmark Rancho Mirage craft beer maker and restaurant founded in 2002 by legendary restaurateur Don Callender, has debuted new branding for the brewery, restaurant and flagship line of beers as it marks the beginning of an era of growth under the ownership and management of Donald “Lucky” Callender. The new artwork created by artist Lynn Knowles debuted at a private brewmaster’s dinner held at the restaurant in mid-November and to the public at the recent Palm Springs Air Museum’s Props & Hops beer festival, where Babe’s Honey Blonde Ale won the “People’s Choice Beer” award.

“I’m excited to grow Babe’s businesses and to create separate identities that will define our brewery and restaurant operations,” said Callender.  “Introducing this artwork for the brewery, restaurant and our flagship line of beers continues both a legacy started by my dad and sets the stage for the future.”

Southern California artist Lynn Knowles originally created a series of watercolor parodies for Babe’s which have hung in the restaurant for 18 years.  Lucky Callender re-connected with Knowles this past summer and asked him to create the artwork which now defines the Babe’s brands and beers. Knowles’ swinemaster is featured in the brewery logo and three pigs- longtime mascots of Babe’s- are included in the restaurant logo, while adding to the mix is a series of retro pin-up models for Babe’s flagship Blackfin Lager, Honey Blonde Ale, Palm Springs IPA, and Belgian Vanilla Blonde Ale.  Knowles was on hand to personally introduce the new artwork at a seven-course brewmaster’s dinner which paired Babe’s beers with new dishes that have been recently added to Babe’s menu. The public introduction of the new Babe’s Brewery logo was made at the Palm Springs Air Museum’s Props & Hops beer festival where the logo was featured on a pop-up tent, signs, uniforms and a new delivery van. The newly-labeled bottled beer can be found at Whole Foods market in Palm Desert.

The brewmaster’s dinner also set the stage for announcing recent accolades and a partnership.  Babe’s has won three readers’ polls for “best BBQ” from Palm Springs Life, the Desert Sun/Desert magazine’s “2019 Best of the Valley” and the CV Independent’s “2019 Best of the Coachella Valley” contests. In January, Babe’s will be the “Official Beer Purveyor of the Palm Springs International Film Festival” and its beers will be served at the festival’s filmmakers lounge and several industry events during the 10-day run.   This is the first time a local brewer has participated in the festival.
