Anyone who’s been to Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse at The River in Rancho Mirage knows very well that this stellar spot is more than a restaurant, more than a bar, more than a great place for Bar-B-Que, and more than a great place for beer. It’s our very own microbrewery—not to mention a social hub that keeps happy patrons coming back for more season after season, week in and week out, calendar ‘round. And now that it’s footy time of year, Babe’s is showcasing “Thursday Night Football.”

In the bar, through December 18, Team 1010 Sports KXPS will be broadcasting live from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. And at 4:00 p.m., Babe’s will participate in a segment called “Coachella Valley Beer Scene,” which will highlight all things “local craft beer.” In addition to all the gridiron fun and brew-ha-ha, KXPS will give away pro and college football tickets as well as local gift cards.

And it should be noted that die-hard fans can gather round the bar at Babe’s on Monday nights, too. Monday Night Football will be shown then and there, minus the side shows. As always, the food and beer are winners—quite literally. Awards are nothing new to Babe’s. Just a few menu highlights include DC’s Sweet Corn Tamales (goat cheese, pork, or chicken)…Angus Flat Iron Steak Salad…Pulled Pork, Brisket, Tri-Tip, and Pulled Chicken Sandwiches…and my absolute favorite, Hickory Smoked Baby Back Ribs.

For those who want to “drink local with pride,” Babe’s has all those aforementioned award-winning microbrews on tap: Blackfin Lager, 29 Palms Pale Ale, Honey Blonde Ale, Belgian Vanilla Blonde Ale, and “Das Schwein” Dunkelweizen, as well as a few seasonal surprises. Not to mention more options, both bottles and additional taps.

Still not sated? Get on down to Spotlight 29 on Saturday, October 25 from noon to 9:30 p.m. for the big Oktoberfest BBQ Competition and Beer Tasting. Babe’s will be one of 10 competitors, with BBQ and microbrews aplenty. And admission is free! Come check out my green felt Oktoberfest Alpine hat with the red feather!
