Did someone say “Car Show?” Because if they did, you know I’ll be there! The Casual Concours IV will take place on October 20, 2012 on the greens at the Desert Princess Golf Club in Cathedral City, from 10:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Hosted by Great Autos of Yesteryear—the largest LGBT car club on the West Coast—this family-friendly gathering of auto enthusiasts of all ages will feature more than 150 classic, exotic, and special interest vehicles, including those owned by some of my friends. This is the fourth time the show has been held in the Palm Springs Valley, and I, for one, couldn’t be happier about it!
General admission is a modest $10, and proceeds from the event benefit the Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter. (If you haven’t seen this amazing new facility, be sure to check it out. But be forewarned, you may just leave the shelter with a new furry best friend in tow!) To raise additional funds, a classic 1973 Ford Thunderbird has been donated and will be raffled off! Tickets are only $5.00 or five for $20.00. Now that’s something that might be worth gambling on! (BTW, the lucky ticket holder doesn’t need to be present to win.)
My pal Brian Keligian, president of Great Autos, tells me that ample food and assorted beverages will be available again this year. So come on out, gaze at some gorgeous old automobiles, grab a bite, and make an afternoon of it!
