Are you celebrating Cinco de Mayo 2022? It is an excellent time to raise a margarita glass and chow down on some of the best Mexican food in and around Rancho Mirage.

Bobby Botina’s Mexican American Grille, 71800 CA-111 Bldg. C, Rancho Mirage: One of the newest restaurants in Rancho Mirage is celebrating in style. Enjoy $7 top-shelf margaritas with Patron Silver, Don Julio Silver, or Casamigos Silver (3-7 pm). Of course, there’s a menu full of tacos. Or order the chicken mole pizza, a platter of slow-roasted pork carnitas with rice and beans, or fiesta spicy shrimp nachos. Grab your friends and get a sharable serving of tacos, quesadillas, chimichangas, burritos, or fajitas, 4pm – close. Stay late and enjoy an evening of live music.

Las Casuelas Nuevas, 70-050 Highway 111, Rancho Mirage: Back in 1973, the Delgado family opened the doors of the first hacienda-style restaurant in the country. Select from a menu full of dishes made from scratch that are crafted from family recipes. And be sure to grab a table on the patio; the atmosphere may make you think you’ve stepped across the border into an authentic Mexican garden. This Cinco de Mayo, in addition to tasty traditional margaritas, mix it up a bit and enjoy a tasty mango-jalapeño or pineapple-mint margarita.

Maracas Cantina, 472775 Dinah Shore Dr., Rancho Mirage: With more than 100 different Tequilas, it may be tough to decide which glass to raise in celebration. Enjoy an extensive menu of favorites such as homemade tortilla soup, tamales, chile Rellenos, flautas, sopes, chimichangas, and more, including vegetarian options. Plus, there is a variety of tempting desserts like tres leches cake, flan, and fried ice cream.

Burgers & Beer, 72773 Dinah Shore Dr., Rancho Mirage: Looking for a different dish but still want to keep the holiday spirit? Wrap your hands around a guacamole burger or a Pancho burger (a beef patty cooked to order and topped with beans, chopped tomatoes, chilis, onions, and chorizo). Get a side of cucumber chalupas (cucumbers topped with shrimp, tomato, serrano peppers, onions, and cilantro mixed in spicy Clamato and served with avocado and lemons). Wash it down with a Victoria, Tecate, Sol, Indio, or other Mexican beer.
