Get Great Gift Options for Dad

Mark your calendar now: Sunday, June 19 is Father’s Day. Are you seeking out a proper present for Pop? Here are some great gift ideas to show your love and appreciation.

Go beyond Dad jokes

Does your father think he’s witty but instead delivers groan-worthy one-liners? Give your favorite laugh-loving guy some tickets to see upcoming shows with Steve Martin and Martin Short (June 18), Jim Gaffigan (Aug. 5), or Jim Jefferies (Aug. 27), four dads who can tell a truly funny joke. Or spring for a night of laughs with tickets to The Low Key Comedy Show (July 1); all events are live at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino.

Spa for Pa

Who would say no to a day of pampering? Not the guy who has carried you on his shoulders and lugged all the toys (and cooler full of soda) for a day at the beach. Think of how much your Dad would enjoy sitting with a glass of champagne and indulging in a special spa day package at Donya Spa, including, wet and dry saunas, a Russian bucket, jacuzzi, and more.

The Ritz-Carlton, Rancho Mirage also provides manly men treatments like a 50- or 80-minute muscle recovery massage or a deep cleansing men’s facial.

Rock on at The Show

How about gifting tickets to Brit Floyd, “The World’s Greatest Pink Floyd Show” (June 24) or a performance dedicated to those other U.K. lads, The Fab Four – The Ultimate Beatles Tribute (July 2)? Is Dad a fan of Heart? Catch Nancy Wilson (July 16) live on stage to hear all the favorites. Seeking something “more, more, more”? Give him Billy Idol tickets (Aug. 13). Or present him with “Nothin’ But A Good Time” and see Poison’s all original lineup (Bret Michaels, C.C. DeVille, Bobby Dall, and Rikki Rockett) on Aug. 26.

Go ‘fore’ it

Give your Pops a great golf escape at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa. Tell the reservation desk you want to tee up the  “Stay and Play” package that includes bag storage, complimentary range balls, and unlimited play for two people starting at 2 p.m. on the day of check-in. In between rounds, Dad can relax at one of the three pools (yes, upgrade and reserve him a cabana!).

Take a swing at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa. Help Dad tune up his game with lessons. Book a tee time on one of the three distinct nine-hole layouts with palm tree-lined fairways, gently rolling terrain, and incredible mountain vistas that showcase classic California desert golf at its very best.

Get good grub

Take Dad for brunch at Si Bon Belgian Bistro. Select from entrees such as beef stroganoff or pan-fried filet of sole Florentino on the special Father’s Day menu. Appetizers, desserts, and drinks are included. (June 19, 10 am – 3 pm, $38 per person)

Let him dig into a big meal of barbeque and beer at Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse. With a menu full of fantastic dishes: ribs, Tri-tip, steak, burgers, and numerous award-winning craft brews, Dad will surely give you a saucy thumbs up.

Relax and enjoy a table out on the patio at Acqua California Bistro. The special Father’s Day menu includes bistro steak and garlic truffle fries, blackened fresh Atlantic salmon, lemon pepper chicken, royal cut prime rib, and more.

Go on an adventure

Beat the heat with an early morning or evening hike together on one of Rancho Mirage’s many park trails. Kick it up a notch with a Red Jeep Tour through the desert.

Book the whole family a challenging afternoon at Escape Games. Find a mystical artifact in The Secret of Dragon’s Spire, get the giant keys to the factory in The Great Candy Challenge, or discover the identity of a forgotten Egyptian king during The Forgotten Pharaoh.

Treat him right

Admit it, your Pop has always liked the sound of “free,” right? Head over to Ben & Jerry’s at The River to celebrate Father’s Day with a cone, sundae, or shake, and receive a free gift with any purchase on June 19, 12-9 pm. Or order a custom ice cream cake (48-hour advance notice required) and also take advantage of the free gift. If Pop appreciates a good pastry, order up a dozen cupcakes or cookies from Pastry Swan. And don’t forget Dad if he lives out of town; ship a box (or two) of Brandini Toffee to show him you’re sweet on him.
