I’ve been saying it for years, but it’s worth repeating: There’s never a dull moment in the Palm Springs Valley! From amazing restaurants and fun nightlife radiating in every direction from my home in Rancho Mirage to the sporting events that bring all eyes and ears to our beautiful desert to some of the most incredible film and music festivals found anywhere in the world, there truly is something for everyone year round in this wonderful oasis.
And right around the corner we have Cinema Diverse: The Palm Springs Gay & Lesbian Film Festival. Celebrating its fifth anniversary, the fest will run from September 20-23, 2012 at the Camelot Theaters in Palm Springs. An expanded collection of 23 screenings—more than twice last year’s number—will be exhibited in three theaters, the entire slate programmed by local festival director Michael C. Green. Just a few of the previously announced films include “Melting Away,” “Taking a Chance on God,” and “Facing Mirrors,” as well as the ever-popular short films programs.
While you’re at the Camelot, no need to have brought a bagged munch or to leave “festival grounds” at meal time. Just check out Executive Chef Hector’s great selection of fresh salads, sandwiches, entrees, and deserts—all made on site!—in the CineBar (a full service restaurant, bar, and lounge) and Camelot Café.
Cinema Diverse tickets go on sale September 1st, 2012. Maybe you’ll never see me starring on the silver screen, but you can surely often catch me in front of it!
