The Kraft Nabisco Championship Golf Tournament will be here in the blink of an eye, and I couldn’t be more excited about it! The first “major” on the LPGA tour will bring more than 100 of the best female golfers in the world to the beautiful Mission Hills Country Club in Rancho Mirage for the opportunity to make LPGA history—not to mention the chance to jump into Poppie’s Pond, the traditional winner’s leap into the water next to the 18th hole. Said tradition was begun in 1988 by that year’s champ, Amy Alcott.
There are still plenty of tickets available, including single-day general admission entries and “six packs” (which allow six accesses, either by a single person or multiple people). And for those who want a bit more of an up-close-and-personal experience, a limited number of 18th Clubhouse tickets and passes are for sale, which include food, beverages, and parking with seating and service right next to the final hole—and built into the water! It’s quite the treat!
I’m thankful that I live right in Rancho Mirage, so travel is no trouble for me. Out of town guests often stay nearby at the Westin Mission Hills Resort & Spa, the Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, or the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa (a special treat for those who like golf AND gambling). The timing of this tourney couldn’t be better, with the climate perfect for meandering along the links following a favorite player, shopping at the many golf equipment and accessory vendors, munching on fast food, or sitting down to a great meal replete with cocktails to contemplate all things “golf.” This is one sporting event that I never miss, and I sure hope to see you there!
Oh, and one last thing…. Since this endeavor would never be possible without the dedication of the many men and women who come year after year to lend a hand, there are ALWAYS opportunities to help out as a Kraft Nabisco Championship volunteer. Check the website for information. And many thanks to all the past and future volunteers!
