It’s common knowledge that Rancho Mirage’s The Show—the state-of-the-art performance venue located within Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa—is a magnet for top-notch talent. But when a veritable superstar is slated to appear, it’s very big news indeed. Such is the case with the phenomenon known as Cyndi Lauper.
The woman behind the hits “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun,” “Time After Time,” and “True Colors” isn’t just a singer-songwriter, actress, Broadway composer, New York Times best-selling author for her autobiography, and LGBT/human rights/animal rights activist, she’s the winner of two Grammy Awards, one Emmy, and a Tony (for scoring the musical Kinky Boots, still running on Broadway and across the world in traveling road shows). All told, Cyndi has sold some 50 million records. Now that’s something to sing about.
Desert audiences will have a rare chance to see this accomplished artist in all her glory at The Show on Saturday, September 24th, at 8:00 p.m. Tickets—in the $75 to $95 range (what a bargain!)
The songstress—whose latest album, Detour, an ode to country classics of the forties, fifties, and sixties was recently released—will be making a pit stop in Rancho Mirage following gigs in Europe and the American Southwest before traveling on to San Diego, Los Angeles, and Las Vegas. I’ll be cheering her on from the front row of The Show. If I were you, I wouldn’t miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see a star of this magnitude up close and personal.
