“Desert Trip is more than just music,” trumpets Goldenvoice, “it’s a complete weekend-long event.” As such, the super duper event producer has issued the first of many upcoming communications in the form of the “Desert Trip Newsletter.” Its chock full of interesting info and helping hints as to how to make your experience the best it can possibly be.
For instance, did you know that—as opposed to Coachella and Stagecoach—here you can bring in your own low collapsible chair? Yep, there’s a special General Admission Chair & Blanket section that’s distinct from the General Admission Standing Only section.
The Park & Ride option allows you to hop onto a shuttle at Rancho Mirage’s own Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa (how about tempting Lady Luck before the spectacle, or grabbing a bite so you’re not starving come show time?) and be driven right to the entrance gate of the Empire Polo Club in Indio. Reserve your seat at ValleyMusicTravel.com. If you’d prefer grabbing a shuttle from either Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa or The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa, you can Uber there, since parking at those resorts is strictly for guests. But maybe you were smarter than smart—and you are a guest! Great! Those in the know know that Rancho Mirage is just a short car trip from Desert Trip!
No matter how you get there, get there on time at the very least, the earlier the better. Day Parking opens at 10:00 a.m. and closes at 1:00 a.m. Gates open at 2:00 p.m., which is the same time at which food and activities start. Concerts—The Rolling Stones and Bob Dylan on Friday, October 7 and 14; Paul McCartney and Neil Young Saturday, October 8 and 15; Roger Waters and The Who Sunday, October 9 and 16—begin at 6:30 p.m.
See you there, rain or shine!
