Dinner at Thai Smile

My blogger buddy Diana Dodge and I couldn’t be more different.  She’s a classy version of the “ladies who lunch” and I’m a classic “let’s do dinner” kind of guy.  But one thing that we always agree on—day or night—is our love of Thai Smile in Rancho Mirage.

Even with the diversity of cuisines available in the communities of the Greater Palm Springs Oasis, I find myself constantly drawn to my favorite Thai restaurant.  Easy to find at the corner of Route 111 and Bob Hope Drive (just across Bob Hope from The River), the ambiance and food are the perfect recipe for an intimate date, a working business dinner, or a full-fledged family affair.  Owners Matthew and Irene Creighton have hired the right staff, developed the perfect menus, and kept prices in a range that will not break your bank.

Although I eat it all, I’m a meat-lover through and through.  Three Companies—a delicious dish with beef, chicken, and pork—is always a favorite, along with both Luscious Duckling and Screaming Duck.  (What can I say?  I love a canard!)  The Pad Thai is legendary, as is my very favorite Thai dish, Tom Kha Gai—a wonderful chicken-based soup with fragrant coconut milk served by the bowl or the Hot Pot.  Seafood lovers are similarly in heaven here, and a wide range of noodle and rice dishes satisfies every guest.

I eat out a lot, but always seem to make my way back to the best Asian cuisine in town—great Thai classics always served with a smile.  (290 words)
