Eisenhower’s Five Star Gala
I’m always so very proud to boast that my hometown of Rancho Mirage is also home base of the illustrious Eisenhower Medical Center. Every chance I get, I try to support this temple of health and wellness with my time and money, which is why I’ve already got tickets to Eisenhower’s Five Star Gala, to be held at six o’clock on the evening of Saturday, December 8 at out city’s very own Rancho Las Palmas Resort and Spa.
Presented by the Eisenhower Medical Center Auxiliary—and partially underwritten by benefactor James Houston and a stellar host committee that includes such generous names as Helene Galen, JoAnn McGrath, and Carol Swanson Price—the event will feature a hosted reception followed by dinner and dancing to the accompaniment of Wayne Foster Entertainment’s singers, dancers, and musicians. Valet parking will be complimentary, and black tie is optional.
The mission of the Auxiliary, which was founded by Dolores Hope, is to “provide ongoing support services to Eisenhower Medical Center through recruitment, education, and fundraising” so as to assure that the hospital continues achieving excellence in health care for the entire desert community. As such, the festive soiree in store for attendees has been dedicated as a Gala with a Cause, with proceeds funding the acquisition of the latest, state-of-the-art da Vinci® Robotic Surgical System. For those of you who may not be aware, Eisenhower Medical Center has a well-deserved reputation as the Palm Springs Valley’s leader in minimally invasive robotic-assisted surgeries.
The ticket price for this event is $300, and those interested in purchasing one, a pair, or an entire table may contact Teresa Hurtig at 760.773.1810 or visit emc.org/gala. And know that your contribution will not only guarantee a night of fun and frivolity but sustain the great work done by Eisenhower Medical Center, which recently received full accreditation as a chest pain center from the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. According to the SCPC, chest pain centers reduce mortality rates by 37%. It’s well-known that heart attacks are the leading cause of death for both men and women all over the world, with more than five million Americans reporting with chest pain at hospitals each year. By keeping Eisenhower in mind when planning your year-round charitable giving, you may unwittingly be saving the life of a neighbor, a co-worker, a friend, or a loved one. Come to think of it, by generously donating to the cause whenever I can, I may be saving my own life…or yours! Won’t you please join me in kicking up my heels at Eisenhower’s Five Star Gala? I’ll be the one in a sparkling evening gown, getting down on the dance floor and sending my heart racing!
