Evening Fun in the Summer at Westin Mission Hills

The Greater Palm Springs Oasis is the place to be this July and August!

Used to be that restaurants and stores closed for months on end when the temps climbed in the heat of summer, but smart valley visitors and year round local residents all now know that there is a special charm about the hot days and gorgeous nights of the off-peak desert.  That’s why savvy businesses are working overtime to accommodate those of us lucky enough to spend time here in what used to be called the “off season.”

With a big hat and plenty of sunscreen I’m always game for days under the rays.  But this time of year, I especially come alive at night.  There are plenty of places to hang with friends while sipping the evening away.  Right down the road from me in Rancho Mirage is the Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa, and I’m a big fan of their Thursday Night Sangria Sunsets Party.  DJ Bradley Ryan from Mix 100.5 spins some mean music poolside, where both locals and resort guests relax with a great choice of handcrafted summertime cocktails while enjoying the evening breeze.

If you’re peckish before heading over to the pool, stop into the Fireside Lounge and check out its new Fireside Lounge Menu.  www.westinmissionhills.com/assets/u/WestinFiresidev51.pdf  Aside from a great array of both beers and wines (by the glass and bottle) from around the world, you’ll find a wonderful assortment of “Tidbits”—everything from marinated olives and grilled vegetable & chevre terrine to heirloom tomato tostadas and bacon & shrimp brochettes.  Great munchies all, they’ll keep you going throughout the evening.  And if you happen to be at the Fireside Lounge on Fridays and Saturdays, you’ll be treated to the sounds of local acoustic artist Michael Keeth, who performs from 8:00 to 11:00 p.m.

Come on out and indulge in the evening.  See you there!
