Flowers, chocolate, or jewelry for Father’s Day? Not so much. But nary a dad has ever said no to a great steak dinner out. (Well, perhaps a few vegetarian patresfamilias would beg off on such a feast, but those are relatively few and far between!)

All this to say that come Sunday, June 18, why not take dear old pops to one of the many incredibly alluring steakhouses within Rancho Mirage city limits? While the signature restaurants of two of our four beloved town’s deluxe resorts—Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa’s bluEmber ( and The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa’s Pinzimini ( boast such cuts as filet mignon, rib eye, New York strip, and more on their menus, The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage’s The Edge Steakhouse ( and Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa’s The Steakhouse ( are eateries that specialize in answering the call, “Where’s the beef?”

Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar ( and Kobe Japanese Steakhouse ( are two non-resort settings where red meat is the name of the game. But fine preparations may also be found at such esteemed establishments as Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse (, Bernie’s Lounge and Supper Club (, Catalan Mediterranean Restaurant (, The Cheesecake Factory (, The Fisherman’s Restaurant (, Las Casuelas Nuevas (, Lord Fletcher’s (, Roy’s (, Shame on the Moon (, Si Bon Belgian Bistro (, Wally’s Desert Turtle (, and Yard House (, be they the aforementioned trims or of the skirt, asada, prime rib, or tartare varieties.

So, you see, since ascots and cigars are definitely passé, take Daddy out for a meal fit for a king on Father’s Day. Just please, don’t let him pick up the check, no matter how much he insists!
