Food Truck Festival Fun for the Family

I am constantly amazed at the vast array of activities available to visitors and residents of the communities of the Greater Palm Springs Oasis.  The only downside to all these cool choices is that sometimes there is TOO much to do, and too little time in which to do it all.  But the more you plan, the more you can fit in!  And one thing you shouldn’t miss is the annual Palm Springs Food Truck Festival.

Taking place this year on Saturday October 27th from noon to 5:00 p.m. (with 11:00 a.m. admission for V.I.P. ticket holders) outdoors at the Spa Resort and Casino—come rain or come shine!—this is a gastronomical dream come true for eaters of all stripes.  With the popularity of the TV phenomenon known as “The Great Food Truck Race,” the general population now knows that food trucks no longer just whip up great burgers and dogs but also curry favor with foodies who love to be a bit more adventurous.  More than 50 trucks (many seen on the TV show), are expected to be on hand to feed the hungry masses.

As for the food, fun will ensue as you delight in delicious combinations that you may never have thought of.  How about a homemade bacon-wrapped jalapeno sausage?  Or a rabbit and rattlesnake bratwurst?  (For years I’ve said I eat everything from rabbit to rattlesnake—I kid you not!  So this one was obviously made for me!)  Every manner of Asian cuisine will also be available, along with some of the best tacos and burritos on the planet, Cajun cuisine, vegetarian delights, and the not-to-be-missed deep-fried spiral-cut potato on a stick!   Most items are in the $5.00 – $10.00 range.  Be forewarned, there are more deep-fried items offered than anybody should ever be tempted by.  And yes, I was tempted last year—and am sure to be again this year!  Don’t even get me started on the vast variety of desserts…

This is great family friendly fun with music, activities for the kids, a beer garden for the adults, and food, food, glorious food.  Buy your tickets in advance as the planners are expecting another sell out.  Check out their site for more info.
