So here are five of my favorites:

bluEmber at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa
Sleek contemporary room but best tables are on the patio overlooking the golf course – swaying palm trees, view of the mountains, live resort music all add to the luxury resort ambience.
THE SALAD: BLT Wedge combines crisp iceberg lettuce, vine ripened tomatoes, applewood smoked bacon and blue cheese crumbles finished with a roasted garlic balsamic dressing. Love the creamy crunch!

Acqua Pazza – A California Bistro at The River
Labyrinth of contemporary styled rooms filled with boisterous diners enjoying a never ending Happy Hour. Inside: booths in the back, past the bar, are my favorites. Outside: any table over looking the lake.
THE SALAD: Lobster. A delicious combo of lobster, shrimp and fresh fruit topped with a passion fruit dressing. YUM!

Yard House, Rancho Mirage
Vast sports bar with a high voltage fun factor. Any of the giant room-sized booths make a snug harbor for up to eight ladies. Vast beer selection and two GREAT salads add to the party atmosphere.
THE SALAD: Chopped (from the Starters Menu). This crunchy melange of avocado, tomato, bacon, corn, cilantro, cucumber, celery and onions tossed with a Bloody Mary Vinaigrette dressing and topped with slices of grilled chicken is to DIE for!

Roy’s Rancho Mirage
A warm Hawaiian styled room, an “Aloha” greeting and scrumptious Euro-Asian fare. Then there’s that chocolate desert! Ask for a table in the back of the room.
THE SALAD: Don’t miss Roy’s Canoe Appetizer for Two with Shrimp Sticks, Grilled Szechwan Pork Ribs, Blackened Ahi, Lobster Potstickers and a Crispy Tuna Roll. Ok it’s not quite a salad but it is a tiny bit of heaven. Order in advance Roy’s Melting Hot Chocolate Souffle. Then you will know why some of us check into the Betty Ford Clinic for dependencies other than booze or drugs.

Wally’s Desert Turtle
The desert’s most luxurious room echo’s the atmosphere of the Polo Lounge. Beloved for perfect service and an amazing wine list. Ask for Frank Sinatra’s favorite table.
THE SALAD: Here’s two of my faves – Ahi Tuna and Shrimp Cerviche Martini with Avocado and Tomato Salsa or Scottish Marinated Salmon with Lemon Dill Creme Fraiche. Don’t lick the plate!
