Between all those pool dips, open-toed shoe treks, and sun-worshiping sessions that are the hallmarks of summer, August and September are great times to take special care of yourself from head to toe and get to one of Rancho Mirage’s wonderful resorts spas for a facial and pedicure combo.
Perhaps it bears repeating that Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa has the Sunstone (www.hotwatercasino.com)…The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage has its own brand new spa (www.ritzcarlton.com/ranchomirage)…Omni Rancho Las Palmas has Spa Las Palmas (www.rancholaspalmas.com)…and Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa has The Spa at Mission Hills (www.westinmissionhills.com).
The latter is where I most recently went to repair and rejuvenate the skin on my face and that on my feet. I started with esthetician Barbara, who performed one of the spa’s new hydropeptide facials, this one called the Hydrate. It consisted of eight luxurious steps: cleansing, exfoliation, massage, a mask, an arm-and-neck massage (while the mask worked its wonders), toner, moisturizer, and sunscreen. So refreshed did I look post-treatment that friends at dinner that night literally commented on my new glow.
Once Barbara was done putting my best face forward, she introduced me to Maricela, who administered the Essential Pedicure, a regimen that includes nail shaping, cuticle care, moisturizing massage, and a polish of choice. The bonus is that Maricela smoothed out every rough edge of my heels, left in such poor shape by my exposing them to the dry desert air.
These two delicious and worthy self-indulgences lasted 50 minutes each, and it’s truly the best two hours I could have lavished on myself. Going forward, I’m making appointments at a different spa each month to make sure I’m in ship shape from top to bottom—especially during those hot, hot summer months.
