Dust off those dancing shoes—and get ready to get them dusty all over again! Goldenvoice, the promoter responsible for giving worldwide audiences two identical weekends of the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (AKA “Coachella”) has announced its lineup for 2015.
On Friday, April 10 and 17, the headliner is AC/DC (the Australian hard rock band formed in 1973), with other acts slated to perform those days and nights, including Tame Impala, Interpol, Steely Dan, Alesso, Alabama Shakes, Ride, and Nero.
Saturday, April 11 and 18 see Jack White take the mainstage while The Weeknd, Axwell Λ Ingrosso, alt-J, Belle and Sebastian, Ratatat, Hozier, and others fill satellite stages.
And Sunday’s grand finale on April 12 and 19 has internationally recognized Canadian-born rapper and songwriter Drake fulfilling headliner duties while Florence and the Machine, Kaskade, Ryan Adams, David Guetta, St. Vincent, and others fill out the bill.
There’s a lot of online chatter about how dissonant this year’s slate seems. All I know is that every Coachella I’ve attended has been a raucous good time. What does it matter that heavy metal veterans will play in succession with progressive electronic dance musicians? I say it’s all melodies to the ears of fans, and a grand time will be had by all—including yours truly. Now…which weekend to attend?
Passes are unfortunately sold-out, and if you weren’t one of the lucky tens of thousands to procure one before they were exhausted, keep checking www.coachella.com. Last year Goldenvoice made a limited amount of last-minute additional passes available to local residents. Suerte!
