Every year the good news just comes earlier and earlier, doesn’t it? Goldenvoice, the promoter that annually brings audiences throughout the globe two identical weekends of its perennially popular Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival (AKA “Coachella”), has announced its lineup for 2016. That’s music to my ears! You?

While the first weekend passes sold out last year in a huge summer pre-sale, base $399 general admission passes for the second weekend (and various VIP and other pass packages for the entire festival) go on sale Wednesday, January 6 at 11:00 a.m. at If you’re not fortunate enough to nab a spot, remember that Goldenvoice usually releases a limited amount of passes specifically reserved for Palm Springs Valley residents in April.

So, on Friday, April 15 and 22, the headliner is reunited band LCD Soundsystem, with other acts scheduled to perform those days and nights including Ellie Goulding, Sufjan Stevens, Jack Ü, M83, Underworld, The Kills, and Foals.

Saturday, April 16 and 23 see Guns N’ Roses storm the mainstage while Ice Cube, Disclosure, Zedd, A$AP Rocky, CHVRCHES, Halsey, James Bay, and others take spots on satellite stages.

And Sunday’s grand finale on April 17 and 24 has EDM god Calvin Harris headlining while part-time Palm Springs resident Sia, Major Lazer, Flume, Beach House, The 1975, Rancid, Miike Snow, and others fill out the bill.

No news yet on the “art” portion of the festival, but it’s safe to say it should be as breathtakingly inspiring as in years past. For 2016, Nic Adler will again supervise the fine cuisine, and celebs expecting to take it all in include famous Coachella staples Paris Hilton, Vanessa Hudgens, Emma Roberts, Jared Leto, and Katy Perry. Maybe part-time Palm Springs resident (and newly minted Best Actor Oscar winner?) Leo DiCaprio (he bought the famed Dinah Shore house in the Old Las Palmas neighborhood for more than five million dollars two years ago) will even make a repeat appearance at the oft raucous fest. All I can say is, “Let the music play!”
