As a guy who prides himself of being a man about town, I must admit I’m a bit red-faced to confess that—until a few days ago—I’d never ventured into Goody’s Café in the Country Club Village mall at 40101 Monterey (cross-street Country Club Drive). Boy am I glad I discovered this hidden gem!
Specializing in only breakfast and lunch, this cozy spot with the red and yellow booths is the perfect place to meet a chum or go solo for sustenance early in the morning. I’m talking classics like eggs any way you like ‘em served with your preference of meats and their delicious homemade hashbrowns…south of the border breakfasts like machaca & eggs…more than 15 varieties of omelettes…waffles, pancakes, and French Toast…and even breakfast sandwiches.
Come noontime, Goody’s offers 19 different burgers (try the pastrami burger), plus 17 different salads (including a Greek gyro salad), and 29 sandwiches (tuna pita, anyone?). South of the border’s also served at lunch, with a wide array of nachos, burritos, tacos, and quesadillas on the menu.
So if you should suddenly find yourself in this part of Rancho Mirage—which is how I discovered Goody’s—and you need to be in and out in a hurry but still want to feel sated, pull up a chair, or slide into a booth, and enjoy all the good stuff at Goody’s. And be sure to give a warm hello to manager Christina from Potter. She’s as hardworking as she is pretty and charming, and she makes it her business to make sure you leave a happy customer. www.goodyscafe.com
