Two things you dear readers may not know about me: One, I have a very long holiday list, and two, whenever I can, I like to wow the loved ones on it by doing my shopping from local sources. And by “local,” I mean from my beloved home town. Thankfully, there are a lot of options in Rancho Mirage when it comes to purchasing home-grown gifts. So follow my lead, and let’s shop till we drop!
First off, I have a lot of foodie friends who love to wine and dine. And with more than 70 different eateries and other food and beverage purveyors in town, I can pick and choose when it comes to getting gift certificates. Check out www.dineranchomirage.com for a complete list.
Our four deluxe resorts—Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa (www.hotwatercasino.com), Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa (www.rancholaspalmas.com), The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage (http://www.ritzcarlton.com/en/hotels/california/rancho-mirage), and The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa (www.westinmissionhills.com)–all have full service spas. Why not bestow a massage or other soothing treatment on family and friends?
If you want to go the retail route, start at Rancho Las Palmas Shopping Center. From housewares to fashion, you’ll find it for a great price at Steinmart (www.steinmart.com). (And while you’re at it, pick out a little holiday outfit for yourself.) Something from Brandini Toffee (www.brandinitoffee.com) always hits the sweet spot, too. This rapidly growing brand’s holiday packaging is one of the most elegant in the Palm Springs Valley.
And even more stores await at The River (www.theriveratranchomirage.com). What quickly comes to mind as perfect presents are movie passes from Century Theatres (who doesn’t want to go see all those sensational awards season new releases? www.cinemark.com); soaps, lotions, or candles from Bath & Body Works (each makes an amazing host or hostess gift www.bathandbodyworks.com); or an original piece of art from the Izen Miller Gallery (www.izenmillergallery.com). Oh, and my favorite new shop at The River—one that’s perfect for that special man or men in your life—is Argyle Grant (www.argylegrant.com), a maker of exquisite linen shirts, swim boxers and briefs, and beach-to-brunch wear. Check out this designer’s signature black and white polka dot pattern. I’m crazy about it.
When all else fails and you still need a few holiday treats, there’s Debbie’s Classic Creations (www.betterthanfruit.com), the sole custom gift basket store in the Palm Springs Valley. Debbie, Nelson, and their expert staff are personal shoppers who will make it their mission to find the perfect something for that special someone.
