Jensen’s Minute Shoppe

Often, great things come in small packages. That’s surely the case when it comes to Jensen’s Minute Shoppe at the corner of Frank Sinatra Drive and Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage. This small convenience store with the imprimatur of the big, well-known, and respected brand is the perfect place to make that pit-stop before heading home.

Whether you’re looking for that cup of sugar or pound of butter you’re missing to complete those chocolate chip cookies—or store-bought chocolate cookies themselves—this Jensen’s outpost has it all: grocery items; wine, liquor, and beer; lotto tickets; snacks like candy bars and ice cream; and desert knick-knacks like sun hats and sunglasses.

Any time I stop in to the Minute Shoppe, it’s hard for me to resist buying a sandwich or fresh salad from the deli counter at the back of the store. My favorite is The Follies, a delish combo of smoked turkey, cranberry sauce, Havarti cheese, avocado, tomato, and lettuce on a six-inch whole wheat roll. And no, you don’t have to add the red onion, as I do. Other sandwiches have such locally-inspired names as The Santa Rosa (roast beef and cilantro-jalapeno pesto), The Sinatra (salami, copacolla, provolone), and The Bob Hope Classic (honey ham, roasted garlic cheddar, pesto mayo).

Not into deli sandwiches? Try one of Jensen’s Mexican specialties, fresh whole and half chickens from the rotisserie, or prepared salads. Also available are comfort foods like deviled eggs, meat lasagna, and twice-baked potatoes. What a great place to cater a party! And since the Minute Shoppe is open every day from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m., I’ll pop in there to grab a breakfast burrito on my way to an early client call, or grab dinner on my way home after an exhausting day in the heat.

The brand’s motto is “Make every day an occasion,” and I think every day is an occasion to let the good folks at Jensen’s take good care of you and yours.
