With no apologies, I’d like to announce my newest find to quench my constant craving for coffee—Rancho Mirage’s very own Koffi! As the third outlet of the famously popular Palm Springs-based coffee chain, the new location on Highway 111 across from Desert European Motorcars couldn’t be more convenient. And with a new service not offered anywhere in the entire Palm Springs Valley, I suspect they will have patrons willingly waiting patiently in line for their products.
What IS this secret weapon in the area’s coffee wars? Koffi Rancho Mirage is officially the only purveyor for miles around that will freshly roast its own coffee beans! Owners John Abner, John Strohm, and Bruch Strohm gave me a quick tour on their recent opening day, showing off their American-made roaster, which meets all clean air regulations—of course! Their roasting operations will be up and running full-speed by the end of the summer, and their proprietary blends will be available exclusively in their three locations.
The Rancho Mirage store, in the location previously occupied by Amici Italian Trattoria, has been beautifully renovated into a bright and comfortable space for sipping, munching, hanging out, and of course, people-watching!
I’ve often visited Koffi’s other two shops in Palm Springs—one on North Palm Canyon in the Uptown Design District’s The Corridor, the other at East Palm Canyon and Camino Real—and have been very impressed with the company’s smoothly-blended regular and decaffeinated coffee drinks, wide variety of other hot and cold drinks, and fresh sandwiches and baked goods. Koffi’s grilled panini sandwiches are a perfectly satisfying lunch-time pleasure.
While shopping for a car across the street, cruising down the highway, or just looking for a nice respite from your day, be sure to stop in and have a delicious cuppa joe at Rancho Mirage’s newest coffee klatch.
