One of my fave Rancho Mirage events—the Kraft Nabisco Championship—will be upon us in a blink, taking place from March 26th to April 1st, 2012. To usher in the main event, there will be some great fun immediately beforehand. And as a golf fan, I’ll be right there in the thick of it.
Mission Hills Country Club will welcome twin tournaments to get the lady golfers going. On Sunday March 25th, Amy Alcott (the very one who ushered in the now-famous “Champion’s Leap” into the lake by the KNC winner), Nancy Lopez, and Kathy Whitworth will lead a fabulous horde of hall-of-famers for the second annual fresh&easy Charity Pro-Am. With up to 20 teams each being led by an LPGA Tour and World Golf Hall of Fame member, or a winner of an LPGA event, the gals will play on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course.
And on Tuesday March 27th, the fresh&easy-Kraft Foods Legacy Junior Challenge will be played on the Arnold Palmer Course. Also consisting of up to 20 teams, the event will feature one female junior golfer joining an LPGA member, giving young gals the opportunity to be paired with—and play against—some of the most famous women in the world. The low junior amateur winner will receive a sponsor’s invitation to play in the 2012 KNC. What a way to start a golf career!
I can’t wait to get over to the courses and cheer on all these wonderful women and enjoy the super sunshine and warm weather that the Palm Springs Valley has to offer this time of year. Yes, it’s true, I’m rather spoiled. How can I not be, living in paradise?
