Who are the Desert City Ramblers? By name, they are Brian, Bart, Scotty, Kieran, Andy, and Matt. As a band, they are a group of likeminded road and studio musicians that share a love for highway-life and the songs that are the soundtrack for it.
When Desert City Ramblers’ front man, Brian, took a songwriting trip out west, he had the idea of making an album based off of his influences growing up. As he continued writing, he realized, “these aren’t songs for a solo artist—they’re songs for a band.” When he got back to Nashville, the band formed much like the way gangs did in the Old West. Brian’s road manager, Clint, knew Bart, who knew Scotty, who new Kieran… Before long, they were rehearsing the songs that were already being recorded in the studio.
The authentic sound of The Desert City Ramblers is defined by Southern rock, California country, outlaw country, folk, songs about highway life, and the one-night destinations in between. How did they get that name? “A lot of the songs were written in the desert outside of Vegas, so “Desert City” seemed right. All of us in the band are road dogs—musicians that work all the time. We’ve all made a life of rambling up and down the highway, so “ramblers” just fits,” said a few members of the band after cutting their latest single.
Another band member added, “When we’re at home, we’re just a bunch of people that love music and spending time together. We’re taking the life that we have at home on the road to stages around the country. We don’t see it as playing shows for audiences or crowds—we see it as hanging out with people like us around the country.”
