Melnikov House: Saving an Avant-Garde Icon
February 21, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm
Pavel Kuznetsov, deputy director of the Schusev State Museum of Architecture in Moscow, explores the history and preservation efforts of Melnikov House, an iconic example of Russian architectural avant-garde. Built between 1927 and 1929, architect Konstantin Melnikov’s cylindrical home eluded Soviet restrictions on architecture and tested his concepts for mass-produced housing. Presented in partnership with Modernism Week, this free lecture is open to the public, however registration is highly recommended. Visit modernismweek.com to reserve your seat.
