Many Options in Rancho Mirage for New Year’s Eve

Hmmm…  Shall I stay in?  Go out?  Private party?  Night out on the town?  There are so many options on New Year’s Eve!  Last year I went to an intimate dinner at the home of some friends, and then we headed out to other friends’ for a fun midnight toast.  But this year, I’m thinking of doing it up big.  A festive dinner out, maybe a little dancing, then a blow-out midnight champagne extravaganza…and who knows what after that!  But now comes the hard part, deciding on where to go.

Often a good place to start—and end—the New Year’s night is at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa.  Dinner at The Steakhouse is always fab.  Throw in a bit of gaming in the casino, maybe take in the show at The Show—this year with Gretchen Bonaduce’s rockin’ “Fatal 80s”—and end with nightcaps at The Lounge or Rendezvous!

With activities for the whole family, the Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa is always a great choice for a full range of New Year’s Eve events.  Adults will love the cocktails and champagne, food stations, dancing to live music, multiple video screens, and a midnight toast and balloon drop in the Oasis Ballroom.  And in the Hideaway (the resort’s arcade), the younger set can kick up their sneakers at a Kids’ New Year’s Eve Party.  A tasty four-course prix fixe dinner will be served in Pinzimini, which includes admission to the Oasis Ballroom!

Step into the luxurious world of Wally’s Desert Turtle—the beautifully appointed restaurant designed by Steve Chase in the heart of Rancho Mirage—for an extravagant dining delight.  Choose either an early dinner with Wally’s always wonderful à la carte menu, or reserve for the second seating, with a fabulous six-course meal, party favors, champagne toast, and dancing to a five-piece band.

Restaurants at The River will be hopping, with dining choices that include Acqua Pazza,  Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar,,  Babe’s Bar-B-Que and Brewhouse, The Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s, and Michael’s Pizzeria

Across Bob Hope Drive from The River at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, a full range of New Year’s Eve festivities await.  Plenty of options abound, including a family friendly early buffet, an adult buffet and ultra lounge, and a five-course dinner with live music and champagne toast at signature restaurant bluEmber.

And for more holiday dining options, don’t forget some of my other favorite restaurants such as Shame On The Moon, Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion Cuisine, Catalan, Crab Pot Seafood Restaurant, and Las Casuelas Nuevas

But whatever you do, and wherever you do it, remember to have fun, behave responsibly, and drive safely.  See you in 2014!
