March Madness In The Desert

Restaurants and bars celebrating March Madness

Rancho Mirage offers plenty of great bars and restaurants where you can watch this month’s basketball games and get your fill with special eats and drinks. Get your brackets ready, grab some friends and watch the NCAA Tournament on numerous screens.

Find everything from an array of appetizers to award-winning micro-brews and affordable cocktails at these locations:

Babe’s Bar-B-Que & Brewhouse: While your team is racking up points, dig into a rack of baby back ribs. The menu is full of other tasty offerings as well such as pulled pork sandwiches, hickory tri-tip, barbeque chicken and cornbread. Complement your meal with ice-cold, award-winning micro brews. Babe’s is the only restaurant in Coachella Valley to win Palm Springs Life’s “Best” in one category six times in a row.

Burgers & Beer: The beer selection here is the largest in town. Grab an import, domestic or draft by the glass or pitcher. The menu features a variety of appetizers, sandwiches, hot dogs and, yes, burgers. Choose toppings that include pineapple, fried egg, mushrooms or guacamole.

Dringk Eatery + Bar: Thirsty patrons have a lot to choose from and the $5 selections include mules, beers, margaritas and cocktails available all day long. The diverse menu has offerings such as poutine, fish and chips, tuna poke and Cuban sandwiches. Nine big screen TVs make it easy to catch the action.

Maracas: Find great Mexican fare with an appetizer selection big enough to make a meal. Entrees include fajitas and chile relleno as well as fish dishes, steaks, ribs, chicken tequila pasta and lobster ravioli. If the kids are into basketball, this is a great family-friendly option.

The Fisherman’s Restaurant and Bar: If it swims, they’ve likely got it on the menu offered up in a delicious way. Cheering on an East Coast team? Try one of three award-winning chowders. Grab a fish sandwich, a plate of oysters or even some hot wings.

The Slice: There are flat screens throughout this New York-style restaurant. In addition to a plethora of pizza, find a full Italian menu that includes “build your own” pasta dishes. This is another great family-friendly option for all the basketball fans in your clan.

Yard House: Snacks, appetizers, large entrees, steaks, pizzas and even vegan options fill this menu. Whether you like your beer wheaty, hoppy, fruity, malty or strong, you can find it at the bar. Watching the game on TVs here definitely beats the food and drink options you’d have in the stadium.

Much more than March Madness

If you’re hooked on hoops, stay for more than a game and enjoy all Rancho Mirage has to offer. Find a resort with all the amenities that fit your needs. Options include hotels and motels where you lay your basketball-weary head and fully-equipped villas where you and your fellow fans can sit poolside or enjoy the sun on a private balcony.
