New Year’s Eve (and more!) in Rancho Mirage
Whether it’s Winter Solstice, Hanukkah, Kwanza, Christmas, or New Year’s Eve—or any imaginable combination—locals and visitors alike come to the communities of the Greater Palm Springs Oasis to celebrate! And this year there are more places than ever in my hometown of Rancho Mirage to eat-hearty and hearty-party the holidays away. Although I haven’t made final plans yet, I’m anticipating a few weeks of non-stop hopping from venue to venue as I squeeze in as many opportunities to spend time with friends and loved ones. Below is just a sampling of choices. And don’t forget to consider staying at one of the nearby resorts or hotels for safe, non-driving fun.
A good place to start—and end—the night during the December festivities is at the Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa. New Year’s Eve offerings include The Show’s “New Year’s Eve Dance Party with Boggie Machine” and dinner at the Steakhouse (with special holiday menus). New Year’s Eve (and more!) in Rancho Mirage Cocktails and nightcaps at The Lounge or Rendezvous can nicely round out an evening with forays to the casino floor! www.hotwatercasino.com/TheShow
Wally’s Desert Turtle, one of the desert’s most elegant dining establishments, will be treating their guests like gold throughout the holidays. Special menus abound, with New Year’s Eve options including up to six courses of fabulous food, free-flowing champagne, and an old world atmosphere. ($75-$145) www.wallys-desert-turtle.com
Westin Mission Hills Resort and Spa’s newly opened restaurant Pinzimini—offering a wide range of Italian and Continental fare—will be hopping with celebrants on New Year’s due to its prix fixe four-course meal with optional wine pairings. ($95-$135) www.pinziminipalmsprings.com
Over at The River, the patio and comfortable dining rooms will be packed at Acqua Pazza over the holidays, and on New Year’s Eve, diners will be treated to a four-course meal ranging from $39.99 to $49.99. The late seating includes champagne and party favors to ring in the Auld Lang Syne! www.acquapazzabistro.com
Also at The River, check out the options at Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar, where special luxury entrees will be offered and magnums of Gloria Ferrer bubbly will be poured between Christmas and New Year’s Eve! www.flemingssteakhouse.com
Across Bob Hope Drive from The River at Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, a full range of New Year’s Eve festivities await. Plenty of options abound, including an early buffet for the whole family, an adult buffet and ultra lounge for $99, and a five-course dinner with live music and champagne toast at premier restaurant bluEmber for $85-$125. www.rancholaspalmas.com
Chef Charles Andres’ famous four-course New Year’s Eve dinner returns to Roy’s, where delicious Hawaiian fusion fare is the order of the evening. ($52-85) www.roysrestaurant.com
And one of my all-time faves, Shame On The Moon, will be serving its four- or five-course prix fixe menu that brings diners back year after year. ($65-85) www.shameonthemoon.com
But no matter what you do or with whom you do it, my dear blogging pal Diana Dodge and I just want to wish you all the very best for the holidays, and a wonderful season of sunshine and delight in the beautiful Palm Springs Valley.
