New Year's Resolutions

The new year has arrived and with it comes an array of resolutions. Here are a few that we suggest you keep in mind as you visit Rancho Mirage, Heart of the Palm Springs Valley.

Travel More

Everyone deserves an occasional break away from the hustle of everyday life.

Resolve to take more vacations this year and start by planning a trip to the desert. Rancho Mirage happens to be home to several top-notch resorts where you can relax at a spa, enjoy a round of golf, take a dip in the pool and treat yourself to fine dining.

Whether you choose to visit the Westin Mission Hills, Omni Rancho Las Palmas, The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage or Agua Caliente, you’ll return home relaxed, rejuvenated and ready to take on the world.

Try New Food

Many New Year’s resolutions revolve around planning to eat healthier but we think an equally good resolution would be to simply try new food.

Visit Dickey’s Barbecue or Babe’s Bar-B-Que to indulge in a selection of smoked meats and homestyle sides that are practically the definition of comfort foods. Don’t forget to download the coupon for a free Big Yellow Cup at Dickey’s good through February 3.

For a fine dining experience, check out Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse. Stop by on Sunday for a three-course meal featuring Slow-Roasted Beef Tenderloin atop Yukon gold mashed potatoes and a choice of salad and dessert for $48. Or take part in Tomahawk Tuesday, a three-course menu for two that includes two salads, two sides and two desserts to pair alongside their 35 oz. Prime Tomahawk. The epitome of Prime; aged a minimum of 21 days, then cooked to Guests’ desired temperature in their 1600° broiler. Go ahead — have it all.

Or take pizza to the next level with Pieology. This create-your-own-pizza place piles on the fresh toppings of your choice and fires the pizza in less than three minutes. With six crusts, including gluten-free and cauliflower, there’s something for everyone!  Everyone loves a slice and you can find a good one at The Slice Pizzeria Ristorante who serves up some of the best New York style pizzas in the desert.  These are but a few of the many fabulous restaurants in Rancho Mirage.  For a complete listing, please visit Dine Rancho Mirage.

Do Something New

Step outside your comfort zone and experience some unique and fun activities.  Rancho Mirage is home to lots of unique attractions but here are a few ideas to get you started.

The Rancho Mirage Observatory hosts tours, stargazing parties and other educational programs that offers guests a view into the night sky and a lesson in astronomy.

Plan your visit to Rancho Mirage during Modernism Week, which stretches from February 14 to 24, and take a tour of one (or more) of the area’s stunning mid-century style homes.

Rancho Mirage is home to some of the best golf courses in the world. Book a tee time at the Westin Mission Hills’ Pete Dye or Gary Player courses and experience one of the Top 75 Golf Resorts as ranked by Golf Digest. The Omni Rancho Las Palmas also offers a 27-hole championship course too.

Stop by Wally’s Desert Turtle for a Fashion Show Luncheon on Fridays. While you dine on an exquisite meal prepared by Executive Chef Pascal Lallemand, you’ll also view the latest styles from local designers.

The 2019 Speaker Series features actress Cheryl Hines (January 15) Dr. Drew Pinsky (February 26) and television journalist Elizabeth Vargas (March 26). Tickets are on sale now.

Exercise More

Of course, it wouldn’t be a New Year’s resolution article without mentioning the number one goal: to exercise more and get in better shape. Luckily, Rancho Mirage’s warm winter weather is perfect for getting active outdoors. Whether you’re looking to get some fresh air in a local park or explore a nearby hiking trail, Rancho Mirage has it all at your fingertips.

Blixseth Mountain Park offers walking trails amid desert landscaping for a peaceful escape into nature while the Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park has a must-see sculpture garden.

If you’re looking to get more active, check out the 2.2-mile Clancy Lane Trail, the 1.58-mile Chuckwalla Trail, or the short but steep .27 mile hike up the Bighorn Overlook Trail.  For all other trails in Rancho Mirage, click the here for the new Rancho Mirage Parks and Trails Map.

Whatever your New Year’s resolution may be, we wish you a happy and safe 2019!
