I’ve rarely been more delighted than to be graciously invited to the beautiful wedding of the daughter of my dear friends Deborah and Devon at the divine Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa.  Delilah—whom I’ve known since the day she was delivered into this wonderful world—was marrying Frank (hey, we can’t all be lucky enough to have “D” names!), and I was only too happy to be included in the fabulous festivities.

I recently met the ever-effervescent Lisa Acosta, the Rancho Las Palmas Director of Catering, at another event at the resort.  She was raving about all the brilliant renovations on the property that had taken place to accommodate weddings and special events.  And as fate would have it, Delilah and Frank’s nuptials happened to be the first to take advantage of them.

Starting with an afternoon ceremony on the Sixth Tee of the West Golf Course, the 200 or so guests were treated to spectacular views of not only the bride and groom—visions in white and black—but of the magnificent mountains that surround our gorgeous Palm Springs Valley.  After a touching exchange of vows, we all meandered to the newly spiffed-up Sunrise Terrace overlooking the Fifth Fairway, where we were treated to a top-shelf cocktail and hors-d’oeuvres hour that included a wide selection of divine delicacies.  As the sun set, we gathered around the gorgeous new fire pit before heading up to dinner.

The main dining event took place under the heavens on the Starlight Terrace.  Warmed to perfection by strategically placed heaters, the much-anticipated meal was the precise perfection I’ve come to expect from Executive Chef Sean O’Connell.  (And there’s never a question that Diane Dodge’s expectations in life are high!)  Who would ever guess that a chef can feed a crowd of 200 and make everyone feel that they were in someone’s home?  O’Connell’s culinary wizardry is never-ending.

I couldn’t be happier for my newlywed friends (and their proud parents), and thank them especially for their superior taste in letting Lisa, Catering Manager Darin Sturgill, and their entire catering crew at Rancho Las Palmas handle every exquisite detail!
