Plein Air in the Gardens
Beginning October 2, every day from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Sunnylands is open to the public. Visitors are invited to create their own works of art. Reservations are not needed to paint, photograph, or sketch the beauty of the gardens, desert landscape and surrounding mountain range. Shows at The Show
Take it on the run – Formed in 1967, signed in 1971, and fronted by iconic vocalist Kevin Cronin since 1972, REO Speedwagon is a band where the main constant over the decades is a never-ending desire to give their all to their fans, year in and year out. Grab your tickets for the October 18 performance at The Show at Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa in Rancho Mirage. Get the blues – Joe Bonamassa is one of the biggest names in blues rock and has been featured on the cover of virtually every guitar magazine. Discovered as a guitar prodigy in his youth, he toured with B.B. King by age 12. See him perform live October 23.
Hot ticket on a cool night – Expects seats to sell out when J Balvin comes to Rancho Mirage on Oct. 25. One of the top streaming music artists in the world, this Columbian singer has developed a legion of fans represented by over 60 million social media followers and collected over 20 billion views. He earned a Guinness World Record for the “Longest stay at number one on the U.S. Hot Latin Songs chart by a single artist,” for his song “Ginza.” He has also taken home 65 different awards, including 3 Latin Grammy Awards, 4 Latin American Music Awards and 5 Billboard Latin Music Awards.

Tickets are now on sale for the October 17-20 event celebrating mid-century modern design, architecture, art, fashion and culture. There are more than 50 events over the four-day span, including tours, lectures, parties and more.
The year 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the passing of the 19th amendment, providing women equal rights to vote. The Rancho Mirage Writers Festival Film Club celebrates female empowerment with a series of films curated by festival founder Jamie Kabler and film expert Peter Bart. The series begins October 17 with “9 to 5,” starring Jane Fonda, Lily Tomlin, and Dolly Parton. It continues the third Thursday of the month through December 2019 and then picks up again in February to April 2020. Movies begin at 2 p.m. and attendees get free popcorn and water. Mark your calendar for other favorites such as “The Devil Wears Prada,” “Julie & Julia,” and “The Help.”
