“Special” resort accommodations in the Palm Springs Valley just got even more so—and garnered national TV coverage while doing it! The newly christened Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage was the setting for the finale of the massively popular “HGTV Star,” a competitive reality show that puts designers through their paces and crowns one of them the “star,” complete with a contract for their very own HGTV series. The production gave each of the final three contestants the challenge of redesigning an oversized suite at the Omni Rancho Las Palmas, and the completed suites are now available to guests.
The designs were all show-stoppers that showcased the talents of the trio standing near the finish line. And each thrilled the judges. Jeribai Tascoe’s “Brisa Suite,” a luxe midcentury modern-inspired desert hideaway, offers spaces with comfortable furniture and accessories in vibrant colors, with ample artwork from local Palm Springs artist Shag (aka Josh Agle). The “Valencia Suite,” by designer Brooks Atwood, brings a bit of Hollywood to the resort thanks to bold patterns, splashes of color, and elements of the Baroque style. But the “Agave Suite” suite by Tiffany Brooks was the ultimate winner, offering a classic Palm Springs resort experience via a sophisticated palate of breezy neutral and aquatic colors that will surely lull guests into a calm and soothing world where they can relax and enjoy their stay.
With 444 rooms and a total of 22 suites, plus a fabulous 20,000 square-foot spa, the 27-hole Ted Robinson-designed golf course, four restaurants, an adult-only pool, and the super-duper family-friendly Splashtopia water complex, the Omni Rancho Las Palmas is one of the best and most popular resorts in the desert. And now the property can add having three uniquely designed suites to the many fabulous feathers in its hospitality hat!
