ORLP GM Mark Piatkowski

There’s a new kid on the block, but as it turns out, he’s an old hat at running resorts. Mark Piatkowski—a three-decade veteran of the hospitality business who has served for a half-dozen years at leading Omni properties throughout the country—has been appointed the new general manager of Rancho Mirage’s Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa.

Becoming an Omni Hotels & Resorts team member in 2010 when he took helm of the Omni Corpus Christi Bayfront and Marina Hotel in Corpus Christi, Texas, Mark was most recently the G.M. at the Omni Mandalay Hotel in Irving, Texas, a position he held for the last four years. He was named General Manager of the Year for all Omni Hotels & Resorts in 2012.

This is a return to the desert for Mark. The native Michigander, who earned his Associate of Science degree at Wayne Country Community College in Detroit, was the director of food & beverage at the Stouffer Renaissance Esmeralda Resort in Indian Wells earlier in his career. He, his wife, Marcia, and their three sons are very happy to be back in the Palm Springs Valley.

Joining the 240-acre oasis that is Rancho Las Palmas “is truly an honor, and I’m excited to lead this team of talented professionals,” said Mark in a statement. “My past experience within the Omni brand, and also within this Palm Springs market, will no doubt prove advantageous in my role in Rancho Mirage.”

Should you find yourself at the resort in the near future, and see Mark darting about greeting guests or cheerleading staffers, be sure to say, “Welcome back!” and “Happy to have you!”
