It’s that time of year again! Greater Palm Springs Restaurant Week is coming to an eatery near you from June 3-12. Chefs from many desert cities will be dreaming up fantastic (and more than affordable) three-course meals priced at either $28, $38, or $48 per person.

In Rancho Mirage, no less than a dozen restaurants are participating: bb’s at The River, bluEmber at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine, Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar, Gioia at The River, Las Casuelas Nuevas, Pinzimini at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa, Roy’s Hawaiian Fusion, Shame on the Moon, Si Bon Belgian Bistro, State Fare Bar + Kitchen at The Ritz-Carlton Rancho Mirage, and Wally’s Desert Turtle.

In most cases, these are steals of a deal. For instance, Wally’s—so legendary and with such a sublime chef as Richard Pelz—could have easily placed its offerings at $48. Rather, owners Michael and Nicole Botello have chosen to price dinners at $38 to make Wally’s more accessible to a new crowd of guests who will hopefully become regulars.

In other cases, it’s just all about food, delicious food. Over at Catalan, deliriously talented chef Drew Davis and his wife Cynthia have set their price point at $28, with first courses such as hearts of romaine with an anchovy dressing, shaved Manchego cheese, and crostini; main courses such as Davis’ famous paella (don’t call yourself a foodie if you’ve never had it); and desserts like Valencia rice pudding with macerated strawberries.
