Taste of Tahiti

The City of Rancho Mirage hosts two-day cultural event Taste of Tahiti.

The largest island in French Polynesia takes center stage and offers Rancho Mirage visitors a great Taste of Tahiti during this free post-Thanksgiving festival Nov. 23 and 24, 2018.

Proceeds from the event go to a great cause, a non-profit organization put together by a group of young people from the island of Huahine. They aim to share their passion for their culture and promote family values by way of music, dance and food directly from their native home.

Much to enjoy during Taste of Tahiti

The City of Rancho Mirage is proud to sponsor the 2018 Taste of Tahiti and host this spectacular event in the ever-popular Rancho Mirage Amphitheater located at Rancho Mirage Community Park, 71-560 San Jacinto Drive, Rancho Mirage on Friday, Nov. 23 and Saturday, Nov. 24.  In addition to taking part in games and entertainment, festival goers can shop at a variety of vendor booths showcasing Tahitian arts and crafts, sample Polynesian foods and enter for a chance to win raffle prizes — including a trip to Tahiti  — or take part in the silent auction.

There will be ample opportunities to meet people who traveled to the desert of California all the way from Tahiti to share their rich culture. Want to learn how to dance, drum or play the ukulele? Free workshops provide insight, terminology and basic techniques. Sign up for the He’i and He’i Po’o (aka Lei & Haku), Tahitian ukulele, otea, Tahitian drumming or the graceful and exotic Tahitian Aparima workshops.

Capping off the two-day experience is an extravagant dinner gala with a breathtaking show on Saturday evening from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Tickets to this event not only include a four-course Tahitian meal and wine, but also live entertainment and an automatic entry in the drawing for a chance to win a trip for two to Tahiti including airfare, six nights hotel stay, breakfast and all ground transfers.
