Well, so much for good intentions… I started looking for a new place to live last fall—with the help of my Rancho Mirage-based real estate expert David Sidley—but here I am still in my same spot, and still working with David to find the perfect place to live.
Things are hopping in the real estate market. Although prices are not quite as low as they were a few years back, David tells me that there are still lots of great properties out there. And just as when we look for a mate with whom to share our lives, when it comes to finding that preferred pad, there is usually something (and someone) out there for everyone. Sometime it just takes a little time to find it.
There are two developments that have begun construction in the wake of the recent economic downturn. The Villas of Mirada (just up the road from Rancho Mirage City Hall and across the road from the Rancho Mirage Ritz-Carlton Hotel—opening in Fall 2013) offers three customizable floor plans in the 3000-4000 square-foot range in a guard-gated enclave offering seclusion, security, and spectacular scenic views. I’ve been up there twice, and am sure to return to see if this is, indeed, the place for me.
Also returning to the real estate market are new homes at Escala, the Toll Brothers’ project at the corner of Gerald Ford and Bob Hope Drives. Toll Brothers will be offering these mostly three bed/three bath homes at competitive prices, with all the usual bells and whistles that new homes can provide. The location of this complex can’t be beat. The developers are also in the planning stages of another complex called Estilo at Rancho Mirage near Dinah Shore and Bob Hope Drives.
But these are only a few of the many beautiful places to live, and I’m still trying to figure out what’s right for me, what kind of desert resort amenities are essential for my lifestyle, and ultimately where I want to hang my hat. In the meantime, I trust my real estate professional David Sidley to guide me as I continue to search.
