One of my very favorite events of the packed Palm Springs Valley calendar is upon us, and I want to make sure that you don’t miss it… The 2013 Rancho Mirage Annual Art Affaire will be held once again at the city’s Whitewater Park, located just a bit behind one of my favorite Highway 111 landmarks, the Elephant Car Wash sign. Taking place this year on Saturday and Sunday, November 9 – 10, this free event promises to be bigger and better than any of those prior!
More than a hundred talented artists will be showing off their beautiful wares—all of which will be for sale—including ceramics, sculpture, textiles, glasswork, watercolor and oil painting, metalwork, photography, mixed media, jewelry, and more. I know from past years that these artists are the crème de la crème, and I’ve personally purchased a number of beautiful pieces from them.
Of course, no Art Affaire would be complete without a remarkable roster of magnificent musicians, and this year we’ll be treated to some great ones! Saturday’s line-up includes R&B vocalist Debora Galan and smooth jazz saxophonist Steve Cole. And Sunday brings us blues guitarist and singer David Shyde and local jazz recording artist Will Donato. KJJZ 102.3 will broadcast live from Art Affaire on Saturday morning from 10 a.m. to noon, and The Oasis – 95.9 will be on the air live from the event on Sunday from 9:30 until 11:30 a.m.
And just in case you get hungry—or thirsty!—there will be some tasty options for food and drink, including offerings from Rancho Mirage local standbys Wally’s Desert Turtle, Acqua Pazza California Bistro at The River, Pinzimini at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort and Spa, and one of my favorites, Brandini Toffee! Once again the Rancho Mirage Rotary Club will host a beer and wine garden that benefits local charities.
I’ll be there both days—rain or shine—and hope you’ll join me for this great family-friendly event at Whitewater Park in Rancho Mirage! www.ranchomirageca.gov/art-affaire
