Park Renovation

Our premiere hometown green space—Rancho Mirage Community Park—is in the midst of more than just a quickie facelift. Truth be told, the work that is in the final stages of completion is a total reimagining of one of the most popular outdoor spots in our city. The fully funded $6.5 million project will add three acres to the existing park, bringing the total up to 10 acres, and will create additional parking that will make enjoying the park very convenient for both locals and visitors.

The shining star of this overhaul is a brand new, state-of-the-art amphitheater that will surely become a Palm Springs Valley destination for years to come. With a 2,000-square-foot stage and an audience capacity topping 600, city event planners’ imaginations can run wild when it comes to booking concerts, theatrical presentations, lectures, and more. New restrooms and green rooms, plus a technically advanced back-of-house are sure to entice great artists to the performance space, offering guests an amazing experience!

The park will be the perfect place to bring the family for picnics, to play a game or two of tennis or basketball, or to try out the new pickleball courts. (Google it—I can’t wait to try my skill at it.) And for the little ones, the fun will continue with the ever-popular life-sized fire engine, not to mention a whole lot of new and exciting ADA-approved play equipment for children up to age 12.

When will this all be unveiled? Well, at none other than the ever-popular Rancho Mirage Art Affaire weekend, November 7 – 8, 2015. The official ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Saturday the 7th at 1:00 p.m. with the entire Rancho Mirage City Council in attendance. Come on out for a fun time and see what all the hoopla is about as we celebrate our gorgeous new park!
