Pack up the picnic basket, bring some folding chairs or a soft blanket, and bask in the glow of the silver screen—it’s Movie Night at the Park! It seems like everyone is a’twitter over this upcoming five-week run of cinematic madness that will take place on consecutive Tuesday evenings starting on May 14, 2013 in Whitewater Park. Located just off Highway 111 in Rancho Mirage (very near our landmark Elephant Car Wash), the park is easy to find, and patrons are offered plenty of nearby free parking.
As part of the 40th anniversary celebration of the City of Rancho Mirage, a selection of frolicsome films will feature local legends who have lived in—or hung out in—our luscious desert over the years. Stars like Lucy and Desi, the Marx Brothers, Bing and Bob, Burt and Monty, Frank and Dean, Sammy and Peter, and various others who spent ample time in our neck of the woods.
This family-friendly series will begin promptly at 8:00 each evening, and if it’s as popular as I’m guessing it will be, I’d suggest prepping that picnic early and heading over to the park pronto to get the best views. Bring your friends, the kids or grand-kids, and celebrate cinema under the stars! www.relaxranchomirage.com
