A long weekend. A week, or two. Or even a month. Visitors looking to come to Rancho Mirage have plenty of options regarding how long—and where—to stay in the heart of the Palm Springs Valley. With four of the desert’s best luxury resorts (Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa, Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa, The Ritz Carlton Rancho Mirage, and The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa), and a selection of smaller hotels, potential guests may not realize that my fair city also has more than 400 city-registered private homes available for short-term vacation rental.
I recently had the opportunity to attend the nuptials of the daughter of my dear friend, Dierdre. Deciding on a desert wedding was easy, due in large part to the fact that our weather is so wonderful. But positing a place to have it proved to be most perplexing. After much deliberation, mother and daughter decided on a magnificent, lushly landscaped four-acre private property in Rancho Mirage that more than suited their needs. Dierdre’s daughter Donatella and her bridesmaids used the six-bedroom, six-and-a-half-bath estate (with all the amenities, bells, and whistles you would expect of a property such as this) as home base to prep for the big day. On the lawn, steps from the pristine pool and next to a stunning manmade lake and with panoramic mountain views, Donatella and Damian exchanged vows in front of their 200 guests. The wedding went off without a hitch, the reception was fabulous, and I was happy to be introduced to a beautiful property—Hacienda Sumaria Rancho Mirage—that I had not yet had the opportunity to see.
There are plenty of properties for short-term vacation rental in Rancho Mirage. You may recall my bestie and fellow blogger Potter Palma recently gushing about another—the Harpo Marx estate—which is also a very popular place for parties and affairs. All range from bungalows to super chic estates fit for kings and queens and their princes and princesses! The internet is chockablock with sites detailing vacation rentals, all of which must be registered with the city, so you know you’re protected. But for my money, I would go first to my friend and respected business-owner Michael McLean of McLean Company Rentals at www.ps4rent.com.
And just for the record, I’m usually available to attend your event, if for no other reason than to see yet another gorgeous home in beautiful Rancho Mirage! So please be sure to put me down on your list. Plus one!
