If you’ve ever had any doubt that Rancho Mirage is home to one of the most highly esteemed medical centers in the country, doubt no more. The already-award-winning general hospital was just anointed with two prizes ensuring its top spot in Palm Springs Valley health care.
For the fourth year in a row, EMC was recognized as a “Leader in LGBT Healthcare Equality” in the Healthcare Equality Index 2016, an annual survey conducted by the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) Foundation, the educational arm of the country’s largest LGBT organization. “[This award] underscores our commitment not only to our patients and staff, but also to the LGBT community throughout the Coachella Valley,” said EMC executive vice president and COO Martin Massiello.
On the heels of that honor, EMC received The Advisory Board Company’s 2016 Workplace of the Year Award. The short list of just 20 hospitals and health systems across the country is meant to acknowledge organizations that have evinced outstanding levels of employee engagement. The Advisory Board Company—an international consulting firm that conducts research on behalf of 5,000 health care and higher education organizations—defines an “engaged employee” as one who boasts above-average loyalty and commitment to its employer.
Not only am I proud of EMC’s achievements—I sleep better knowing that this industry leader lives in my back yard. Here’s to your health!
