Kid-friendly festivities

Get an early start to the end of the year with your youngsters at the Children’s Discovery Museum of the Desert’s “Countdown to Noon-Year 2019.” Doors open at 10 a.m. allowing for time to participate in different activities throughout the museum, including the kid-friendly crafting of their own party hats and noisemakers. This year’s countdown and balloon drop will be outdoors, making for a bigger and better celebration. No advance reservations required. Event is included with museum admission price of $9.95 per person over the age of 1.

Omni’s many offerings

Make plans to spend the last day of the year at Omni Rancho Las Palmas Resort & Spa. Relax a while and take advantage of Seasonal Specials such as a Candy Cane & Champagne Mani or Pedi, Revitalizing Winter Facial and Honey & Date Body Renewal. Or sink into bliss with notes of vanilla and bourbon infused oil during a Vanilla Bourbon Hot Stone Relief.

Then head to the ballroom for a delicious buffet of cheeses, seafood, carved meats such as roasted Tom Turkey and rosemary-garlic Prime Rib of Beef, and a wide variety of baked goods. Seating available from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.; a DJ spins 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.; $69 per adults and $29 for children 5-12 years old.

bluEmber celebrates New Year’s Eve from 5 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Enjoy starters like shrimp cocktail or oyster shooters, and entrees that include Scottish salmon, Maple Leaf Farms duck breast, and braised short ribs.

Desert dining

Enjoy a festive four-course dinner at Acqua California Bistro with main course entrees that include Chilean sea bass wrapped in banana leaf, New Zealand rack of lamb and Sonomo duck breast. Seating starts at 4:30 p.m.; $49.99 per person includes hats, party favors and a glass of Champagne with dessert.

Bernie’s Lounge and Supper Club features live entertainment by an incredible quartet showcasing Keith and Roger in the lounge. The early seating offers a four-course prix fixe meal (4:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m., $72 per person). The late seating also includes a soup course and bottomless champagne with the meal (7:30 p.m. -10 p.m., $132 per person).

Catalan Mediterranean Cuisine hosts two seatings on New Year’s Eve. Choose from a number of items on the three-course menu (5 p.m.  – 5:45 p.m., $58 per person) or five-course menu (6 p.m.  – 11 p.m., $98 per person), including grilled Berkshire pork tenderloin and Snake River Farms Kobe beef for and additional $14.00.

Back to the future

Agua Caliente Casino Resort Spa hosts the Totally Awesome ‘80’s New Year’s Eve Bash starting at 9 p.m. on New Year’s Eve. On the casino floor, a DJ plays hits from the 1980’s for the last three hours of 2018 until 2:30 a.m. in 2019. Snap a photo with roaming ’80s celebrity lookalikes. Take advantage of food and drink specials throughout the resort and pick up free party favors.

At 9 p.m., Pop Vinyl takes the stage in The Show. Dance to chart-topping favorites from the 1980’s and countdown to midnight complete with confetti cannons.
