There are plenty of jewelers located throughout the communities of the Greater Palm Springs Oasis, and even more scattered throughout Southern California. But I’m one of the lucky souls who don’t need to travel much farther than my own back yard to find one of the best places for all things gem-like: Robann’s Jewelers at The River in Rancho Mirage.
Roger C. Kerchman, owner of Robann’s (named for his dearly departed parents—you guessed it!—Robert and Ann) is the only certified gemologist in the Palm Springs Valley. His skills as the proprietor of this special store go well beyond sourcing beautiful jewelry and watches (with the help of his delightful daughter Taylor). He is also adept at jewelry appraisals, gemstone identification, and authenticity verification. This guy really knows his stuff. And with your input, he and his team are also able to design spectacular one-of-a-kind pieces to meet your every bedazzled need.
I’m a huge fan of their watch selection (have I ever mentioned that I’m a fanatic for being on time?), especially their Rado brand, and even more, their private label Robann’s Signature Series, expertly made in the good ol’ U.S. of A. (with Swiss movements). They are divine! But it certainly doesn’t stop at watches. Their assortment of engagement rings and wedding bands is awesome—not only in the marvelous metals we’ve all come to know, but also all the cool new materials like titanium, Ceramic Couture, White Dura Tungsten, and Dura Cobalt. Be sure to check them out and you’ll be amazed at their scratch-resistant finishes and lightness.
Necklaces, bracelets and cuffs, cocktail rings, pearls, internationally renowned jewelry designers (the Charles Krypell Collection is a must-see), Robann’s has it all.
